Curtains Outside of Windows

Plastic, canvas and lace are some of the curtain fabrics used outside of windows and doors in Bari, Italy to protect against rain, sun and insects, to decorate neighborhood wall alters, and to protect drying laundry.  Different!  But I rather liked them and I guess they must be effective as they are widely used throughout the old town.

  1. This has got to be the oddest thing I have ever seen. Only in Bari...

  2. Odd, yes, for our culture(s) but do you like any of them? I do...especially the striped one and the lace one hanging up high on a window. I should add that it was drizzling when I took these photos. As you can see, most of the plastic was to protect the drying laundry.
